Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible to provide behavioral health consultation to children adolescents, adults and families in order to improve psycho social functioning.
2. Responsible for rendering services in person and/or virtually
3. Responsible for client mental health assessments and performs initial intake interviews
4. Identifies psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnosis.
5. Responsible for determining client’s psychiatric diagnosis based on diagnostic criteria from DSM
6. Treatment planning development based on client’s strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
7. Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical progress notes, according to HCO’s facility policy.
