Addiction Mental Health Assessor jobs in Hollywood, FL

Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     General Description
    Performs a variety of limited technical health, mental health, and/or behavioral health related services within a treatment team for the care of patients.
    Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
    Requires one (1) year working with the substance abuse/mental health population providing support services.

    Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to have previously been a primary consumer of mental health or behavioral health services.

    Special Certifications and Licenses Required
    May require Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CPRS) certification, depending upon area of assignment.

    Preferences
    - Certified Behavioral Health Technician Certification (CBHT), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC), Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), and/or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (NCPRS)
    - Evidence Based Practice Certification as a certified trainer in Whole Health Action Management and/or Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WHAM, WRAP)
    - Associates degree or higher in a related field
    - Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Creole, English/French, and/or English/Portuguese

    Assists with the program admission and discharge process, including triage when appropriate.

    Accompanies patients to and from clinics and hospitals and relevant appointments.

    Assists in carrying out individualized care, service, or treatment plan objectives.

    Assists in coordination of patient schedules.

    Assists in providing a safe and protected environment for patients and staff.

    Assists patients with activities of daily living and skill building, as needed.

    Conducts periodic rounds of patient areas, including Q15, Q30 and Q60.

    Encourages and facilitates community participation and integration.

    Facilitates or co-facilitates educational groups or group activities.

    Models self-advocacy and adaptive mediation techniques.

    Monitors clients during medical examinations, medication administration, meal times and outdoor activities.

    Bridges the service gap between Professional Services (Clinicians/Nurses) and the services of those with lived experience.

    Monitors the behavior of patients and records pertinent behavioral progress in medical records.

    Provides supportive interventions.

    Performs patient personal possession searches.

    Assists patients to build formal and informal support networks.

    Maintains patient confidentiality as regulated under public health laws, standards, federal confidentiality laws and state regulations.

    Maintains patient records as required for the area of assignment.

    Prepares reports, patient records and other documents as required, using computer-based applications. Participates in change of shift report.

    Participates in team treatment planning and implementation and attends staff meetings and training as scheduled.

    Observes and records random urinalysis when needed.

    Checks and records patient's vital signs, accurately assessing vital signs as directed.

    Performs related work as assigned.

    Physical Demands

    Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

    Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of electronic office equipment within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
