Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the clinical team
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions using various therapeutic modalities such as applied behavior analysis, clinical counseling, mental health counseling, dance therapy, art therapy, and Christian counseling
- Monitor and document patient progress and behaviors
- Assist patients with daily activities and provide emotional support
- Utilize crisis management techniques to de-escalate potentially volatile situations
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a mental health setting is preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with patients
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Empathy, patience, and compassion for individuals with mental health challenges
