Addiction Mental Health Assessor jobs in Atlantic City, NJ

Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Mental Health Provider!
    What you'll be doing as a Mental Health Provider:
    • The Mental Health Provider conducts initial consultations to gather patient information.
    • Assesses patient's emotional and mental health and develops treatment plans to improve patient's health relative to these areas.
    • Prompts questions and uses listening skills to help patients explore their thoughts and feelings.
    • Leads patients through mental exercises and role-playing activities, when appropriate.
    • Counsels and advises patients on issues of importance to them.
    • Intervenes with emergency care techniques when patients are in crisis, per protocols of care.
    • Provides referrals for additional care or services if needed, where applicable.
    • Maintains detailed and confidential records.
    • Conducts visits and/or support groups as appropriate.
    • Works in concert with other healthcare team members.
    • Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient.
    • Maintains patient medical records and updates patient's files as needed.
    What we're looking for:
    • Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited graduate school in accordance with applicable state standards and requirements.
    • Must be an active Licensed Social Worker in the state of NJ. Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist preferred.
    • Minimum one (1) year of post-master's social work or counseling experience in a health care setting in accordance with applicable state standards and guidelines.
    • Able to work in a field setting and exhibit ability to make sound judgements.
    • Possesses excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills
    • Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively, relating courteously and cooperatively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, supervisors, co-workers, and all others supporting the mission and vision of the organization.
    • Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm, and willingness to work constructively with other team members and reflect concern for the well-being of others.
    • Possess satisfactory references and pass criminal background, national sex offender, drug and motor vehicle checks.
    Physical Requirements:
    Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting. Also required is driving, writing, speaking, relating to others, making independent decisions, listening and finger dexterity, and the ability to lift and carry.
