Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Applicants should possess at minimum a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Psychology Counseling, Sociology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Services, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Human Growth and Development. A minor in Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, or Social Work is also acceptable.
Those with a Master's Degree are highly encouraged to apply in the above related fields from an accredited College or University.
