Actuary utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuary assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuary applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Must be currently pursuing the designation of ASA (Associate) in the Society of Actuaries. Typically reports to a manager. The Actuary work is closely managed. As of December 31, 2022, AZRA had total admitted assets of USD $2.3 billion and policyholders’ surplus of $232 million.   What you do: Operating under general direction, this roles is accountable for performing technical analysis related to a range of activities including run-off, reinsurance, capital management and driving our mission of understanding risk and creating value. This role supports Senior Underwriters in developments of opinions based on analyses performed. Analysis & Opinion Development: Complete analysis of loss portfolio transfers and reinsurance treaty submissions and support development of technical opinion. Evaluate market trends and technical aspects for P&C business with specific focus on prospective reinsurance. Perform commutation evaluation for both ceded and assumed reinsurance. Conduct transaction pricing and structuring including cross functional input e.g. claims, actuarial. Support maintenance of internal actuarial and underwriting tools. Due Diligence: Provide due diligence and underwriting support for other entities within Allianz SE. Conduct due diligence and file reviews at counter-party locations. Partner Coordination: Drive alignment of Capital and Accounting treatment with finance. Coordinate technical analysis within global underwriting function.   What you bring: 6-7 years of experience required; Insurance/Reinsurance related companies, particularly in an underwriting, finance or transactions related role. Four-year degree required in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent work experience. FCAS accreditation preferred. Experience in the US Workers comp, General Liability, Construction Defect, Professional Liability, Asbestos, Pollution, Health Hazards and/or Property exposures preferred.   Job may require periods of stooping, bending, sitting or standing.  Limited domestic and/or international travel may occur.     Base Salary Range $122,000 - $185,000  Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location.
