Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Being an Actuary develops probability tables regarding fire, natural disasters, death, unemployment, etc. based on analysis of statistical data and other pertinent information. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Actuary typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Actuary works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Business or other quantitative-related field.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Associate in the Society of Actuaries required.
Member in the American Academy of Actuaries preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum five (5) years' actuarial experience, with majority of experience in healthcare and with demonstrated progression in the Actuarial Analyst track.
Proficient experience in the use of relational databases, statistical packages, spreadsheet and/or database application.
Experience in rate-making, valuation of assets and liabilities, and experience studies for at least one product type
Possess advanced knowledge of the healthcare financing industries with emphasis on managed care delivery models.
Above average reviews as a Senior or Lead Actuarial Analyst.
