Actuarial Services Director directs the activities of an organization's actuarial function. Oversees the analysis and evaluation of potential risks to determine the financial impacts of new or existing insurance plans. Being an Actuarial Services Director develops policies, procedures, and formulas to guide statistical analysis and actuarial research and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Designs processes and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance of products and financial operations. Additionally, Actuarial Services Director leads the design and development of insurance products by evaluating and approving insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Oversees the preparation of actuarial reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings and develops financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Researches and selects major rating assumptions to support accurate statistical analysis and evaluates the effectiveness of existing formulas. Evaluates product performance against established profitability targets and recommends modifications. Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to senior management. The Actuarial Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Actuarial Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Position
    Directors of Nursing oversee and direct the 24-hour, full-time nursing services for psychiatric, developmentally disabled or correctional patients in facilities providing inpatient, residential, or a combination of inpatient or residential and outpatient services; perform administrative duties related to the management of direct nursing care; or oversee and direct the Community Medication Clinic program of Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services.
    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
    This position is located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent schedules staff and monitors the use of overtime to maximize efficiency and administer effective nursing care within established budget allocations; reviews performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations to ensure fair and consistent application of established policies and regulations; works closely with the Chief of Nursing Services (CONS), to coordinate nursing care; develops and implements nursing policies and procedures, and provides leadership and direction to subordinate staff; develop and maintain budgets, records, charts, plans, and statistics related to nursing care.     To Qualify:
    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

    Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and five years of professional nursing experience in a correctional facility, medical/surgical hospital or infirmary, inpatient psychiatric hospital, or other related hospital nursing experience, two years of which included nursing supervisory experience and one year of nursing management experience with responsibility for developing policies, procedures, and facility staffing plans, participation in budget development, and supervision of subordinate nursing staff; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Notes

    A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

    Probationary employees working for the Department of Corrections must successfully complete 40 hours of "pre-service" training provided by the department.

    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

    Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
