Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives. P&C Actuarial Assistant - Reserving

  • The P&C Actuarial Assistant - Reserving is responsible for performing reserve estimates and reporting financial results utilizing accepted actuarial standards, methodologies and knowledge gained through on the job training.

    This role works closely with management and key business partners to execute on appropriate reserving strategies of low to moderately complex lines of business.

    Key Responsibilities :

    • Uses best practices, with limited coaching, to perform basic to moderately complex reserving analysis, using traditional actuarial techniques, including proper documentation and evaluation, to provide insights and meet business needs
    • Communicates analysis results to management and non-technical users, making recommendations and providing support for assumptions and methodologies
    • Manages, and / or contributes on projects that are moderate complexity and are of moderate scale using accepted project management standards, with limited guidance
    • With limited coaching, reviews and ensures quality of data used to perform actuarial services within multiple tools / applications
    • Leverages understanding of insurance business, products, markets and regulatory environments in the creation of business strategies and decisions, building expertise within a specialized area

    Supervisory Responsibilities :

    This job does not have supervisory duties.

    Education and Experience :

    • Bachelors degree in related field of study such as actuarial science, math, or statistics
    • 2 or more years of experience (Preferred) in an actuarial reserving position
    • Successful completion of three or more actuarial exams with intent to pursue Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation

    Functional Skills :

    • Knowledge in the use and ability to learn a wide variety of tools, data sources and computer applications
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Power Point and Word. Experience using Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
    • Ability to code in SQL (preferred), Python, or R is a plus
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Basic insurance knowledge, including professional standards of actuarial techniques
    • Ability to complete multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner, with limited guidance
    • Work effectively in a team environment
