Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives.     Job Description


    We are seeking an Actuarial Associate for a direct hire/full time role. This role can work remotely for residents of Maryland and will be responsible for researching and determining the likelihood of financial risk to the organization, preparing and reviewing actuarial documentation for accuracy, and conducting product line evaluation, actuarial modeling, and financial risk and opportunity analyses.


    Essential Responsibilities:


    • Supports actuarial documentation by preparing and reviewing for accuracy and reasonability the actuarial portion of financial reports and tax returns; and responses to insurance regulations.
    • Participates in product line evaluations by conducting analysis of product line financials, pricing, reserve, valuation , cash flow analysis; and analyzing product line performance, risk, and assumptions used in product development.
    • Stays abreast of actuarial research by examining developments in standards, assumptions, competition, and the legal and regulatory environment.
    • Assesses, analyzes and interprets financial risks and opportunities by applying actuarial methods; and conducting actuarial analyses.
    • Supports collaborations with business partners by understanding the business needs; translating actuarial constructs into non-technical recommendations; and complying with the Actuarial Standards of Practice.
    • Supports actuarial modeling by developing and enhancing actuarial models; assisting with the development of alternative assumptions and forecasts using in-house models or actuarial software; and assisting with validating the data and results.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree in mathematics or related field AND Minimum 4 years of actuarial experience. Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.
    • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society Certificate OR Associate of the Society of Actuaries Certificate

    Nice to have:

    • 4 years experience with databases and spreadsheets
    • 1 year of leadership experience

    This direct hire/permanent role can work remotely for residents of Maryand. This role will offer good benefits and a total compensation range of $119,675 – $140,768 per year (base salary plus a 6% bonus).
