Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives. Educational Assistant Fellow (Aspiring Teachers)

  • General Job Function: To assist the teacher(s) achieve teaching objectives and manage the classroom via the
    Educator Fellows Program. Educator Fellows is a two-year program managed by the New Mexico Public
    Education Department. The program uses funds made available through the American Rescue Plan Act to
    promote two major goals:
    1. Create a new teacher/educator pipeline for elementary schools in New Mexico.
    2. Improve adult to student ratios in classrooms as the state recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
    The Educator Fellows Program will create opportunities for those interested in becoming educators by
    providing resources to districts and state charter schools. These resources will help fund recruitment and
    retention of teaching assistant positions, with the ultimate goal of creating a workforce of highly trained and
    prepared teachers.
    The Educator Fellows Program provides teacher funding, training, and support for Educational Assistants
    (EAs) and other individuals who would like to work in the field of education.
    Program benefits include:
     Full salary and benefits for each fellow.
     Boot-camp style training for the fellows prior to their start in the classroom.
     Coaching and support throughout the fellows' time in the program.
     $4,000 stipend to the LEA for each fellow to support their postsecondary education.
     Funding for all licensure and background fees.
     Release time, as pre-approved to complete aspiring educator coursework.

    Education/Training/Experience:

    • High School Diploma or a General Equivalency Development (GED) Certificate.
    • Demonstrates positive attitude, interest, and motivation.
    • Currently enrolled in an aspiring educator pro

    Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work with students and support classroom instruction under the direction of the supervising

    teacher.

    Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):
    Standard office equipment and vehicle for district travel. A district car may be used or if the employee uses
    his/her own vehicle mileage reimbursement is available.
    Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
    Regularly required to walk, talk and listen. Frequently is required to stand and sit. Required to use hands to
    finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Light
    lifting at times.
    Environmental Conditions:
    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    Essential Job Functions:
    EDUCATIONAL
    1. Works with individual, small and large groups of students to reinforce learning and enhance skills,
    2. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and assists with administration of assignments and make up work as
        assigned by the teacher.
    3. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other positive forms of oral
        communication with students.
    4. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
    5. Alerts the teacher to any concerns specific to student(s).
    6. Assists students in the library or media center.
    7. Helps students with their clothing.
    8. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about student.
    GENERAL
    9. Serves as the chief source of information and assistance to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence
        of the teacher.
    10. Operates instructional equipment used in the classroom.
    11. Helps the teacher create bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays.
    12. Collects and records collection of money as assigned by the teacher.
    13. Assist with snack, lunch and bathroom procedures.
    14. Participates with in-service training programs, as assigned.
    15. Performs any and all duties assigned and deemed necessary by the teacher or principal
    Personal Accountability:
    1. Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
    2. Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
    3. Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
    4. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
    5. Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and
        appropriate/special application.
    6. Protects the District’s resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.

    7. Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury.

    EMPLOYMENT: Upon an offer of employment, pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with the
    Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1968, pass a background check and provide
    necessary documentation qualifications.

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy
    on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
