Actuarial Fellow is responsible for applying mathematical analyses and financial principles to amend insurance problems. Applies probability and statistics to determine rates for retirement, accident, mortality, disability and other insurance rates. Being an Actuarial Fellow determines premiums, designs insurance plans, creates probability charts and may aid in the calculation of necessary funds to ensure future payments of benefits. Typically works in either property and casualty, life and health insurance, or defined benefit plans. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow typically requires a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or related. Typically reports to a manager. Position Summary: The UPenn BSTR is a two-year program designed specifically for young educators eager to develop their skills working in independent boarding schools. Over the course of the program, fellows develop pedagogical and leadership skills, build relationships with other independent school educators, and work closely with veteran mentors who challenge them and help them develop as passionate and reflective teachers. Fellows meet once per term with UPenn professors and fellows from other schools, attend an intensive workshop at UPenn in June and complete coursework throughout the two years online with the Penn Graduate School of Education. Applicants should be prepared to commit to a two-year program. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
