Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives.     About the Opportunity

    Academic Clinical Toxicology Fellowship

    The West Virginia Poison Center (WVPC) is seeking applications for a 12-month or 24-month (depending on amount of experience prior to fellowship) post-graduate training opportunity for a residency-trained Doctor of Pharmacy who is interested in a career in toxicology in an academic environment. The fellow is expected to contribute in the areas of teaching, service/leadership, and research, as described below, in order to complete all credentialing requirements as outlined by the American Board of Applied Toxicology. All activities will be under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Director/Clinical Director of the WV Poison Center who is faculty with the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy.

    What you'll do:

    Teaching:
    * Participate in didactic and practicum class development and implementation for the PharmD program at the WVU School of Pharmacy.
    * Co-precept 4th Year PharmD students on rotation at the WVPC.
    * Develop and present large group lectures and continuing education programs for health care students and health care professionals in West Virginia.
    * Participate in the training and continuing education of Poison Information Specialists (SPI's) at the WVPC.

    Service/Leadership:
    * Develop advanced clinical toxicology knowledge and practice skills by participating in WVPC emergency call services (working WVPC shifts to answer emergency calls) and consultation activities while completing independent and directed learning activities.
    * Advance clinical toxicology and Poison Center services through advocacy and participation in poison prevention and poison center awareness programs and business meetings.
    * Participate as a peer reviewer for journal articles or meeting abstract submissions related to clinical toxicology topics.
    * Develop and implement quality assurance projects for the WVPC
    * Key participant in administration functions related to SPI scheduling, payroll, and supervision.
    * Serve on at least one clinical toxicology-related national committee.

    Scholarship/Research:
    * Develop and complete two research projects related to the scholarship of teaching and learning, and present at a professional meeting. Fellow will also be expected to submit at least one manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal prior to the end of the fellowship.
    * Submit at least one abstract to the North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology.
    * Collaborate on grant writing and submissions for the WVPC.

    Qualifications

    * Licensed pharmacist in West Virginia.
    * Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.
    * Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program (PGY1 training accepted, however PGY2 in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred).
    * Displays interest in becoming a faculty member at a college of pharmacy.
    * Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal and communication skills.
    * Ability to work with others to accomplish programmatic objectives.
    * Leadership position experience.
    * Organizational, and time management skills.
    * Strong self-learning skills
