Job Title: Activities Aide

Supervisor: Activities Director, Administrator or Manager

Summary of the Position: The Activity Aide is responsible for conducting activity programs during the day,  in the evening and on weekends, or whenever the Activity Director is not on-duty.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Greet residents and visitors; direct them as needed to their desired destination.
2. Answer the telephone as needed. Page nurse or other personnel as needed.
3. Put names on newspapers and distribute newspapers to designated rooms.
4. During evening and weekend activities make sure the phones are on the “night” mode.
5. Inform Activity Director of supplies needed in advance.
6. Respond to emergency calls by alerting the nursing staff to the location of the call.
7. Gather residents for the scheduled activity.
8. Set up and start the activity on time.
9. Lead daily activities that are scheduled for your shift.
10. Know where the locations of all supplies for activities.
11. Document attendance of activities.
12. Keep the activity room clean at all times.
13. Keep the activity storage room clean at all times.
14. Sort & distribute mail to rooms.
15. During downtime visit with residents and/or plan for upcoming activities.
16. Help serve meals in the dining room if time permits.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by Activity Director, Administrator or Manager

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED
2. Willingness to work with the elderly.
3. Have the spirit of kindness and compassion, as well as common sense.
4. Ability to calmly handle situations with multiple demands at the same time.
5. Be able to keep confidentiality.
6. Be able to get along with fellow employees.
7. Ability to work a rotation of any day, evenings and weekends as needed.
