Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for supervising and guiding operations in the accounts receivable function of an organization. Maintains and reconciles accounts receivable ledger to ensure accurate and timely receipt of payments. Being an Accounts Receivable Supervisor monitors collection period and sends follow-up inquiries regarding payments for the organization. Negotiates with past-due accounts to resolve all payment issues in a timely manner. Additionally, Accounts Receivable Supervisor implements standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and controls. Generates reports to bring insight into collections, account ages, and other relevant metrics and relays conclusions to management. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounts Receivable Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Accounts Receivable Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • JOB SUMMARY
    The Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for the management of the recording of revenue transactions, cash receipts, and proper financial recording into the GL system.

    This position currently has a hybrid schedule after a 90-day probationary period. We are required to work two days in the office at this time.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
    1.    Responsible for the management of company-wide Accounts Receivable activities. Review all sales activity or delegate to staff located outside of the Anchorage office as necessary while safeguarding internal controls.
    2.    Supervise and provide guidance to the Accounts Receivable Clerk positions.  
    3.    Monitor daily cash and wire activity.  Review and submit first level of approval for all outgoing wire payments. 
    4.    Design and implement billing procedures based on customer fuel contracts. Review or prepare monthly billings for such contracts ensuring accurate billing according to contract terms. Includes review of required State and Federal tax consequences. 
    5.    Download and record all transactions from the billing system at month end into the general ledger. Includes accurately pricing company use activity.
    6.    Prepare a monthly fuel inventory balancing for month-end inventory comparison and state reporting requirements. 
    7.    Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
    8.    Prepare customer receivable and balance sheet account schedules for the annual external audit.
    9.    Other duties as assigned.

    Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Supervise all employees within the department. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, disciplining, coaching and training, addressing and resolving employee concerns, planning, assigning, directing work and assessing job performance.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    1.    A Bachelor’s Degree; major in Accounting preferred.
    2.    Five years of employment experience in related position, preferably in the fuel industry.
    3.    Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    4.    Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    5.    A working knowledge of word processing programs and a familiarity with multiple accounting systems is required.
    6.    Must be team oriented and have previous experience working in a team environment collaborating and providing support to direct reports and upper management.
    7.    Must be willing to work in an environment with multiple office locations and be comfortable while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers. 

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
