Accounts Receivable Manager manages accounts receivable functions to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Oversees collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past-due accounts, and keeping track of cash receipts. Being an Accounts Receivable Manager monitors account aging reports, identifies delinquent accounts, and refers accounts to collection agencies. Develops and implements controls and policies to ensure accurate and compliant receivable records. Additionally, Accounts Receivable Manager verifies customer credit limits and applicable payment terms. Audits methods and procedures of accounts receivable function to improve efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Accounts Receivable Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounts Receivable Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsibilities

    • Billing according to the outlined billing schedule as set by the Avalon Corporate Office
    • Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software through electronic and paper claim processing
    • Providing claim follow-up based on Avalon claim review protocol
    • Contacting commercial insurance providers through phone and online review of outstanding claims
    • Processing refunds and adjustments according to Avalon guidelines
    • Collecting payment EOB and processing payment as indicated for patients’ dates of service
    • Effectively communicating with Medicaid and Hospice payers to resolve outstanding issues
    • Working effectively with facility personnel to resolve issues for billing
    • Data entry of ancillary charges within the billing software for month-end close
    • Completing monthly aging for facilities and attending aging review meetings when necessary

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience as an Accounts Receivable Manager or similar position
    • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum 2 years of billing experience.
    • Basic understanding or computer technology, including use of email.
    • Proficient in Excel.
    • Excellent knowledge of billing software and electronic claim processing
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Effective communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
