Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an accounts receivable department. Creates and distributes invoices to customers. Being an Accounts Receivable Clerk records, verifies, and posts payments received by the organization and ensures transactions are recorded in accordance with internal accounting policies. Maintains and reconciles accounts receivable ledger to ensure accurate and timely receipt of payments. Additionally, Accounts Receivable Clerk responds to customer inquiries and assists with the research of any discrepancies regarding bills. May utilize accounting software and systems to manage invoices and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Receivable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
* Ensures cash received via checks, ACH or wires into the bank account is applied timely and accurately in accordance with company policies.
* Analyzes and audits cash receipts; determines appropriate application of short payments; posts and balances daily cash receipts and bank deposits.
* Retrieves electronic and Lockbox deposit information from Online Bank Account reports.
* Research ACH, wires, and Lockbox deposits.
* Processes adjustments such as write-offs and offsets.
* Research and resolve unidentified cash in suspense and allocate the payments to correct accounts.
* Handles initial phase of sales allowance activity.
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
* A/R, cash application experience preferred. Experience with data entry, phone, and customer service highly desired.
* Excellent typing skills and speed.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to use general office equipment, including 10-key by touch.
* Ability to understand basic accounting.
