Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an organization's accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Ensures transactions are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk creates and distributes invoices to customers and verifies, records, and posts payments received. Reviews purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify amounts owed and records and processes payments for debts owed by the organization. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk responds to customer or vendor inquiries regarding payments or billing and researches and resolves discrepancies. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable and receivable ledger accounts. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Southwest Community Services has an opening for an Accounts Clerk in the Accounting Department. The working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:
This is a first-level vocational position that calculates, records, and maintains routine accounting information. At this level, employees record and process simple, single-step transactions and check fiscal source documents to determine completeness, accuracy, and proper authorizations. This position also schedules and coordinates the servicing of state vehicles and orders and maintains a stock of office supplies for the facility.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of accounting procedures and office methods and practices. Ability to make mathematic calculations. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to review financial documents for accuracy with attention to details. Ability to maintain automated and manual financial records.
Eligibility:
0-1 year of experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
