Accounts Payable Clerk jobs in District of Columbia
Accounts Payable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an accounts payable department. Reviews purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify amounts owed. Being an Accounts Payable Clerk records and processes payments for vendor invoices in accordance with internal accounting policies and oversees payment schedules. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable ledger to validate charges and ensure accurate and timely payments. Additionally, Accounts Payable Clerk responds to vendor inquiries and assists with the research of any discrepancies in billings and payments. May utilize accounting software and systems to manage invoices and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Payable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Palmer Staffing is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to help the Accounting and Procurement Department in DC. The candidate will need to start asap. Must have 2 years of accounting experience.
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Assistance is needed for about 6 months, possibly longer. The office is in SW DC – free parking is available. No remote work. Must pass a criminal background check.Status: Temporary Contract
Salary: $28/hour
What You'll Do:
- Performing one or more routine accounting clerical operations
- Examining, verifying, and correcting various accounting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy of data in accordance to accounting procedures.
- Specific tasks/duties are assigned under adequate supervision.
- Entry-level reconciliation and posting will be assigned under detailed guidance.
- In most instances, an employee in this position will rely on the supervisors’ instructions. Completed work will be reviewed for accuracy and compliance with procedures.
