Accounting Supervisor supervises accounting staff in daily operations of one or more accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue, and asset accounting. Oversees calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. Being an Accounting Supervisor ensures all analysis and reporting are accurate and prepared in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Establishes and implements productivity and quality standards. Additionally, Accounting Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounting Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Job Description Summary Responsible for the management and supervision of accounting staff and maintaining accounting integrity and controls. Advise and assist personnel from other departments on daily accounting problems and questions. Responsible for project management on special projects as determined by divisional and departmental needs. Job Description Responsibilities: Examine and advise accounting staff on daily accounting problems. Research and follow-up on any system balancing and accounting processing problems. Contact and collaborate with systems analysts and ITS customer support and other departments. Project management responsibilities, i.e. development of project plans, schedules, estimate project resources, procure necessary resources, coordinate and monitor project progress. Review the daily system balancing procedures and examine balancing problems. Direct and review the controls over balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure that all corporate policies are observed and followed. Counsel and assist persons from other departments regarding accounting administration and system questions and problems. Responsible for and monitoring of daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations. Perform supervisory responsibilities including performance reviews, establish cross- training procedures, prioritize tasks, and analyze procedures for efficiencies. Document and maintain department procedures. Oversee Cash Completeness Create and maintain Management reporting Answer questions and provide information to auditors and insurance examiners. Evaluates overall performance of team as well as individuals. Coaches and counsels team members both individually and together toward improved performance. Participates in interviewing and selection of new employees. Oversees training and development of new employees. Qualifications: Associates degree in Accounting or closely related subject or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting or closely related subject preferred. Above average communication skills both verbal and written. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks and assess team strengths. Evidence of management potential. Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet daily, monthly , quarterly and year end deadlines. Good decision making skills and project management skills Working Conditions: Hybrid employees will need to work at a Company office location at times and a remote work location (typically their home) at times.
