Accounting Manager manages multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being an Accounting Manager oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Evaluates accounting processes and systems and implements optimizations. Additionally, Accounting Manager develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Accounting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Essential Functions
- Responsible for the accounting of the general and sub-ledgers
- Preparation of Financial Statements in accordance to group accounting manual, local GAAP and tax law and timely reporting in group consolidation tool (Cognos)
- Asset accounting
- Identifying and investigating unusual variances in the P&L accounts
- Reviews payroll for sites
- Accounts payable reconciliation and execution of payment runs
- Monitoring of accounts receivable aging report and follows up on past due accounts as needed
- Liquidity planning and dunning
- Preparation of 1099’s
- Acts as a contact person for the auditors during the annual audits
- Acts as a team leader and supervises a team of 2-3 professional level employees (direct reports)
- Responsibilities typically include: setting goals and objectives for team members and ensuring practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports
- Reports to Site Finance Manager
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, or higher in Accounting, Finance or Business
- SAP Experience preferred
- Advanced Excel Skills
- 3 or more years’ experience in Accounting
- Experienced in US GAAP or Swiss GAAP reporting
Skill and Abilities
- Perform all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team, reliability and effective communication skills
- Hands-on personality
- Position will require on-site work at both the Middletown, DE and Pennsauken, NJ locations
