Accounting Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position Summary
Accounting Clerk I is a regular, part-time , at will , non exempt, hourly position. Under the direction of the City Treasurer the clerk will be asked to perform entry level accounting functions, including , but not limited to, customer payments,accounts recievable, accounts payable, invoicing, data entry, customer service, collection of past due accounts, and various reporting. Knowledge of governmental accounting procedures will be given preference.

Work Environment
Work will be performed in the City Hall Treasury Office. Work is performed in an office setting but will require circulation throughout the facility and other areas of the city.
