Accounting Clerk jobs in Springfield, OH

Cedarville University is seeking a Cashier for the prompt and accurate processing of customer financial payments, refunds, invoicing, and statements while demonstrating excellent customer service. This position reports to the Director of Accounts Receivable.

Essential Functions of the Position :

• Receives and receipts a variety of payments and other cash and cash-related transactions.
• Prepares cash receipts for bank deposits, ; prepares daily cash reports and balances the cash drawer; reconciles cash, check, and credit card receipts daily, and investigates and resolves any out-of-balance problems.
• Provides information to customers regarding rules, policies, and procedures related to cash and cash-related transactions.
• Assists in preparing and mailing various statements.
• Assists in analyzing various accounts, issuing refunds on credit balances, follow up with outside agencies, or transferring funds to other AR types.
• Answer telephones, create invoices, prepare special billings, and assist in maintaining office filing system.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
• Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post records.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment, which could include a computer keyboard, adding machine, copier, check scanner and currency counter.
• Must be a self-starter, and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be flexible to work extended hours on a limited basis as needed.
• High School degree required & three years’ work experience is preferred.
• Previous experience with spreadsheet & word processing programs.
