Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Payroll Accounting Technician to serve a dual payroll and accounts payable role with the Clerk and Comptroller’s office. This position performs auditing and payment processing of accounts payable for the Board of County Commissioners. The role is also responsible for recording and posting monetary transactions, providing daily and weekly accounting and balancing of all transactions processed, and researching and resolving policy and procedure discrepancies. The Senior Payroll Accounting Technician will also be responsible for reviewing all work performed to ensure accuracy and verification of funds processed. Areas of assignment may include pre-auditing administrative accounting, timely payment processing, and assisting in the audit of county-wide payroll. A high school diploma or GED equivalent required or two years of direct experience required. Three years of progressively responsible experience in computerized financial transactions, including payables, payroll, interpreting and applying contracts, bids, statutes and policies and procedures is preferred.
