Accounting Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for variety of general accounting support tasks in a corporate accounting department including recording journal entries, update and maintain ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions. The Accounting Clerk will work in conjunction with Accountant and Controller to prepare timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. The Accounting Clerk will also work on corporate projects as assigned by senior management. The Accounting Clerk will have responsibility to maintain and protect the company’s capital assets, including equipment, furniture and fixtures and software..
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The Accounting Clerk must have at least Associate Degree in Accounting from an accredited college and 1-2 years’ experience in accounting related field is preferred. Position requires excellent computer skills (Strong knowledge of MS Office and financial software like QuickBooks is preferred), communication skills and the ability to interact with people in all levels of the organization.
