Accounting Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Code documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes
- Help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other general accounting projects
- Process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipts, and help with collection of past due balances to support Accounts Receivable
- Reconcile discrepancies by examining possible sources of disagreement, recreating likely actions, and identifying the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as needed
- Carry out other related duties and work on special projects as assigned
- Support accounts payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing
- Post financial information to journals and ledgers
