Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed.     1. Record accounts payable transactions in general ledger and verifies all data.     4. Handles incoming and outgoing mail, and answers any mail, email or telephone call regarding financial transactions that does not require a direct response from the Chief Operating Officer. Record transactions in the Legacy and Circuit Rider Database for the GCUMM. Provides first response customer service for materials and services of the agency. Works with GCUMM Partners (NACP, UMMF and SFS) 15%

    5. Prepares and processes journal entries in the Great Plains ledger. Many transactions are billed to one account and need to be split into different accounts. This would include copies made on the copier, postage charges billed by mail services, utilities, etc. Maintains complete filing system for GCUMM financial transactions. 20%

    6. Prepares periodic financial reports for staff management and board members, perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, and provides information and reports for auditors. 5%

    7. Monitor stock levels of printing supplies and office supplies needed for agency use, including the ordering of merchandise from outside vendors through the use of purchase orders. Also tracks and updates the inventory of assets and consumables for the agency. 5%

    1. Accounts are accurately reconciled.

    2. Journal entries and check requests are accurate and processed in a timely manner.

    3. Website maintained and kept up to date with new and innovative ideas.

    4. Supplies are replenished and kept at adequate levels and assets are tracked at all times.

    5. Outstanding past due invoices from constituents are properly contacted.

    6. Cash receipts are accurate and processed in a timely manner and entries into the databases are accurate and timely.

    Education:
    Associate Degree in accounting preferred, with knowledge of web design or Equivalent experience could be in leu of degree

    Other Specialized Knowledge

    Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including word processing, spreadsheets, databases. Excellent mathematical and computational skills. Knowledge and understanding of office procedures; knowledge of English language, grammar, punctuation; ability to exercise courtesy and tact with diverse group of external customers; ability to use discretion, judgment and initiative; ability to work independently; demonstrated proficiency on personal computer. Knowledge or experience in using web design software.
