Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Completes a wide variety of complex accounting, financial data processing, and financial reporting functions. This includes general ledger accounting, financial reporting, financial and operations analyses. Mentors and provides support to GL Accountant.
• Responsible for the effective handling of accounting records in compliance with established policies and procedures.• Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts, including streamlining balance sheet reconciliations and expense analysis schedules.• Produces assigned journal entries to record enterprise transactions and ensures proper reconciliation with supporting documentation.• Responsible for month end closing assignments.• Responsible for the research and completion of financial and operations analyses.• Responsible for interfacing with appropriate internal and external departments, agencies, and companies to ensure accuracy of financial records.• Receives, collects, balances, and verifies computer accounting data for completeness and accuracy.• Maintains awareness for discrepancies or suspicious circumstances and investigates as required.• Mentors General Ledger Accountant and other accounting clerical personnel, including training and problem resolution.• Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity while observing the highly confidential nature of the position.• Upholds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash. • Performs other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, emphasis in Accounting or equivalent degree required. • Five years’ experience in general ledger accounting.• Experience in a senior level position within the Accounting field preferred. • Experience in financial reporting required.• Advanced knowledge of general business and accounting systems and methods.• Knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules, procedures, and administration is required.• NetSuite experience preferred but not necessary. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook), and internet research skills with advanced proficiency in Excel.• Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.• Native American hiring preference applies.
